Headwell Farm

Heritage Restored – Views Embraced

A full renovation of a timeworn farmhouse in Saxton, North Yorkshire, reimagined for modern life while honouring its roots—complete with sweeping south-facing views, reclaimed features, and refined rural detailing.

Headwell Farm is a traditional farmhouse located in the village of Saxton, North Yorkshire, set within an idyllic rural landscape with far-reaching, south-facing views. The property was in a tired and dated condition when purchased by private clients who sought to breathe new life into the home while embracing its natural surroundings and historic character.

Managed entirely by Build North, the renovation was a full-scale transformation that balanced modern living with traditional charm. Working closely with the clients, the project team reconfigured and upgraded the property to create a light-filled, practical family home that makes the most of its stunning outlook.

The renovation features a careful blend of old and new. Century-old internal doors were retained and restored, while exposed structural steels and a refined material palette introduced a contemporary edge. A wet underfloor heating system was installed to provide efficient comfort throughout, seamlessly integrated beneath traditional flooring finishes. Outside, a traditionally built oak-framed garage and dedicated flower room complement the rural setting and enhance the overall usability of the property.

Headwell Farm now stands as a beautifully considered example of thoughtful rural renovation—celebrating heritage, embracing the landscape, and delivering long-term comfort and quality for modern country living.
